GW Down Two Spots This Year

UNDATED (AP) - Princeton tops the latest U.S. News & World Report college rankings. It's the eighth straight year the New Jersey school has either tied or held the top slot outright.
Just like last year, Princeton was followed by Harvard and Yale in the rankings.
Johns Hopkins ranked 14th and the University of Maryland-College Park was 54th.
Williams and Amherst are the highest-ranked liberal arts colleges. The Naval Academy was tied for 20th on that list, St. Mary's College of Maryland was 87th, Goucher College was 91st and Washington College was 97th.
George Washington Ranked 54th.
St. Johns College in Annapolis is one of dozens of liberal arts schools opting out of the magazine's college ranking system over objections to its peer assessment surveys.
The formula for the rankings includes variables such as graduation and retention rates, faculty and financial resources, and the percentage of alumni donating money to their alma mater.

So do you remember (or not) that strange guy kissing Jen on the cheek during the cocktail hour at my sister's wedding? Well, it turns out that he's family. On Jeff's side. It's his uncle. My mom was showing Danaë & Jeff pictures from the wedding and then when he saw the one of Jen and the strange older man he went, "Hey! That's my uncle!" Mystery solved.

Well it seems through a freak accident, women may be able to create life without men!

An analysis of a now-discredited South Korean stem cell line suggests the scientists may have inadvertently created the first human embryonic stem cells derived from human eggs alone, researchers said.

Using a new genetic sleuthing method he derived with colleagues, he said they have determined that the South Korean cell line was derived from parthenogenesis, a type of asexual reproduction in which an egg develops into an embryo without sperm.

I Never Would Have Guessed

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- A man has been charged in connection with a Silver Spring methamphetamine lab, according to police.

At about 4:30 p.m. on June 4, Montgomery County police, the DEA, the fire department and the fire marshal's office went to the 11400 block of Cherry Hill Road to investigate a report of a suspected meth lab.

Authorities said that when they went to the apartment, they saw evidence of drug use and a man throwing things around.Police said the man threatened officers with a weapon, so he was subdued, taken into custody and taken to an area hospital for an emergency evaluation.
A further search of the apartment yielded items consistent with those of a meth lab, authorities said.On Aug. 1, an arrest warrant was obtained for 29-year-old John Joseph Quinn IV. Quinn was already incarcerated on unrelated charges and was served at the Montgomery County Corrections Facility on Aug. 2.Quinn is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine production equipment, common nuisance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

How do you Mess That Up .... Again?

Three DC Marshalls were fired for mistakenly booking a female detainee in a men's detention center. The prisoner was not improperly documented but completed a strip search and showered with fellow male inmates - still no bells going off. But the best part about this story is this is not the first time this happened she has been booked and charged as a Man - it happened to her in April. Her charges? Prostitution. Ooops

Killer Fashion From From the Heart of Haute

According to the "London Daily Mail," local armor manufacturer BladeRunner is offering to line school uniforms with Kevlar, in response to a recent surge of knife attacks amongst teenagers in the area. The company produces security clothing for police, security guards and even British soldiers in Iraq.

Michael Vick: Hurter of Feelings and Dasher of Hopes

I knew there had to be a good reason why I didn't post anything yesterday. I was just waiting for this wonderful article to fall into my lap. And oh, how I am rejoicing now!!

So, we all know how Michael Vick has been arrested on charges for illegal dogfighting, right? Well, this story is so much better than that! Turns out there is this inmate in South "the Country of Crazies" Carolina who is suing Vick for stealing his two pitbulls, using them in illegal dogfights, stealing his identity, copyright infringement, and, the best part, selling the dogs on eBay in order to use the profits to buy missiles from Iran.

His lawsuit was handwritten. Of course it was. You can read a PDF of this AMAZING lawsuit by clicking here. I strongly urge you to do so. My favorite line: "Michael Vick needs to stop physically hurting my feelings and dashing my hopes."

But wait folks, that's not all! Last year, that same inmate (Jonathan Lee Riches (c)) filed a lawsuit against "George W. Bush, et al." Wanna know who the et al were? There are 56 pages of defendants!

Including: Almost all of Bush's cabinet members, the Jewish State of Israel, Tony Danza, the Pope, the Magna Carta, Pizza Hut, Paris Hilton, Chuck Schumer, Pluto (as in the former planet), Google, Bill Gates, Mount Rushmore, George Orwell, Mein Kamf (yes, the book), The Da Vinci Code (yes, another book), Denny's, various Buddhist monks, Plato, the Lincoln Memorial, Puff Daddy, Jay-Z, and, not to mention, the Ming Dynasty.

6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11

1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.
2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4= 11.
3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.
4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident.
